First Car ever built wasn’t a Ford

The First Car was not made by Ford as you must be guessing; it was made by Carl Benz in 1886. It is also spelled as Karl Benz. It was named ‘Motorwagen’.

Lamborghini is now owned by Audi

This is perhaps the most popular fact but this article will be incomplete without mentioning it. Feruccio Lamborghini, an Italian manufacturer used to make Tractors and had a Ferrari. He went to meet Mr.Enzo Ferrari who owned Ferrari to discuss the issues he was facing with the clutch of the car. Enzo did not entertain him and in revenge Feruccio came out with his own car Lamborgini. The most amazing part is that he made the car available to the world in just few months after the altercation with Enzo Ferrari. And rest is history.  Ferrari and Lamborghini rivalry is famous like Coke and Pepsi. The company was sold to Chrysler Corporation in 1987 which was further sold to Malaysian Car Company in 1994 and finally landed under the control and ownership of Audi in 1998. It doesn’t matter who owns the brand makes the car; Lamborghini has remained the Ferrari rival name since 1963.

Volvo deliberately gave up a fortune for the Safety of Car Passengers & Drivers across the Globe  

Volvo was the first car company to set an example of making a Car Safety product and making the Patent free so all the Cars in the world could have it. It made the Car belt which perhaps is the most important safety device in the Car since its innovation. It was invented by Volvo Engineer Nils Bohlin in 1959. Volvo could have made billions of dollars forever by keeping the patent with itself instead it made it free for all to ensure every Car Passenger is safe. Generosity has a good impact not just on common people but also on industrialists which is proven from the fact that Elon Musk’s Tesla made ‘open sourced’  battery patents in order to give boost to the Electric Vehicle category across the globe.

There are approximately 6 crore cars (60 million Cars) produced every year. That’s 1, 65,000 cars everyday, 6850 cars every hour, 114 cars every minute and approximately 2 cars every second.

Volkswagen owns a dozen popular Car Brands of the World

Volkswagen is not just Volkswagen (by the way it’s pronounced ‘Folkswagen’-a wagen for folks known as the ‘People’s Car’), it owns Audi, Skoda, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porshce, Ducati, Scania and Man. Many of these are not ‘People’s Car’ though as these are very high end.

India’s Car Market

India is the 3rd largest Car Market in the World. Approximately 3.5-4 million cars are sold in India every year. There are 40 plus cars brands that are sold in India, Maruti being the leading Car Manufacturer and seller with almost 50% market share. Maruti was founded on 24th February 1981 by the Government of India with its first Maruti 800. Japan’s Suzuki Motor Corporation owns 56.1 % share of Maruti Suzuki. Suzuki increased its stake from 24% to 40% in 1987 and 56.1% in 2013. It is one of the most popular and traded stock in the Indian Stock Market as well. Maruti launched its first Maruti Car from Design Table to Roll Out in just 13 months. The success of Maruti attracted the attention of World Leading Car Manufacturers to tap the Indian Market with Hyundai being the first to enter. Hyundai Motor India was founded in 1996.
