You might know him as Dwayne Johnson or more popularly as “The Rock”. He is among the most famous celebrities in the world.

From being an actor, a professional wrestler to a businessman he is good at everything. But what’s unique about this superstar is that apart from being a great wrestler and actor, he has many other qualities.

We all love his work and adore his personality. And, here are some amazing and interesting facts about the legendary “The Rock”.

From starting his career in 1996 as Wrestler with a very unpredictable career option to Highest paid Actor, ‘The Rock’-Dwayne Johnson has proved that he is the real rock.

He became the highest paid actor for his debut in ‘The Mummy Returns’ in 2001 and he remains to be highest paid actor of 2019 and 2020 with earning per annum that are anywhere between $85-90 million.

Dwayne Johnson came from a wrestling family:

Most of us know that before starting his career as an actor, The Rock was a WWE wrestler. But did you know that both his father and grandfather were wrestlers?

Both of them were professional wrestlers. His father, Rocky Johnson was the person to train him first.

When Johnson initially started as a WWF wrestler in 1996, his stage name was ‘Rocky Maivia’.

He took it from the names of his father and grandfather, whose names were Rocky Johnson and Peter Maivia respectively. However, he changed his name to The Rock in 1997 when he came back after recovering from a knee injury.

Johnson studied in four different high schools:

Johnson had to change a lot of schools due to his father’s career as a wrestler.

From President William McKinley High School in Honolulu to two different high schools in Nashville, he had to change school multiple times.

At the age of seventeen only, he was so tall his schoolmates thought that he is some kind of undercover cop or agent.

Johnson also played football:

He got a football scholarship at his University. He played for the Miami Hurricanes while he was studying at Miami University.

Apart from that, he was also a professional football player in the Canadian Football League for the Calgary Stampeders.

Johnson has a degree in Criminology:

Would you think of The Rock to have a degree in Criminology? But it’s true that he holds a degree in criminology.

He did not get an opportunity to use his degree in his professional career. Johnson graduated from the University of Miami in the year 1995.

After being a successful professional wrestler, Johnson tried his hands at acting. And we have to say that he did a remarkable job at that. He did a lot of great movies which not only did commercially well but was also loved by the people.

Some of his famous movies include- San Andreas, The Rundown, Central Intelligence, Pain and Gain, Rampage, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Furious 7. He also lent his voice for the character of Maui in the famous movie named Moana.

He also did cameo roles in The Mummy Returns and Star Trek: Voyager. He got a huge amount of 5.5 million dollars for his role in The Mummy Returns.

In fact, he also holds the Guinness World Record for getting the highest payment by an actor for their debut role. For his role of The Champion in the episode ‘Tsunkatse’ of Star Trek: Voyager he played the role of a gladiator contender.

The episode got so popular that it actually drew a huge number of people, approximately 4.1 million.

Can you imagine having a record for taking selfies?

Well, when it comes to The Rock everything seems to be possible.

You would be really surprised to know but holds the Guinness World Records title for the most selfies being taken within just mere three minutes.

This interesting incident happened at the San Andreas premiere. Fans were really excited to meet him and took 105 selfies within a span of just three minutes.

His meals are as interesting as everything about him:

Well, no wonder people are crazy about the exceptionally well-built physique of The Rock.

To maintain this, he puts in a lot of effort. Apart from hours spent working out, he is also quite particular about his meals. Johnson takes 7 meals every single day.

His food includes fish, potatoes, eggs, broccoli, rice, and some other vegetables.

Apparently, he eats almost 821 pounds of codfish every year. But like all of us, he has cheat days as well.

Johnson once posted a picture of his cheat meal on social media. And it consisted of almost 4 pizzas, 21 peanut butter brownies, cokes, and a lot of pancakes.

Johnson once saved the life of his mother:

He is not just a hero and saviour in movies. In real life also he is a life saviour.

He once saved the life of his mother. Johnson was traveling with his mother, Ata Johnson. She was suffering from anxiety and abruptly stopped their car in the middle of the road in Nashville.

She tried to walk into the traffic and in front of the moving cars but Johnson pulled her back, thus saving her life. This incident happened when he was just fifteen years old.

Johnson had to struggle with depression:

Believe it or not but he has said in interviews that how he had to go through a rough time in his life.

When he was removed from the team of the Canadian Football League, he went through a difficult time.

It affected his self-confidence and mental health. But he definitely bounced back stronger than ever.

Johnson also created a word of his own:

In 1997, Johnson used the word ‘smackdown’ for the first time. It was then added to the Merriam Webster dictionary. It got so popular that even a WWF show was named after it.

The Rock is definitely one of the most charismatic and loved personalities. His fans belong to different age groups. He won the hearts of people not just by the characters he played but also because of the great person he is in real life.

Johnson’s Tattoo is big like him:

Dwayne Tattoo has a very big Tattoo on his Arm, Shoulder and Chest which represents his Samoan Cultural Roots and how much he is attached to the same. His Animated Character of ‘Maui’ in the animated movie ‘Moana’ had the exactly same Tattoo. 

Bonus Fact, Dwayne also sang a song on ‘Moana’ in which played the Maui, the song become very popular
